Here are some things to do if you’re visiting the area and have some downtime!
Mystic
Mystic is the number one tourist destination in our neck of the woods, and early October is the optimal time to visit attractions such as Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium. Some of our favorite places to eat and drink are Anthony J’s, Engine Room and the “ye olde” Captain Daniel Packer Inne.
Groton
You like boats? They have the USS Nautilus Submarine Museum! You like beautiful vistas? Check out the view from Avery Point! If you ask nicely, then someone will give you a tour of this beautiful campus, which is where Vena is getting her PhD!
Stonington Borough
If you’re looking for something that’s a little off the beaten path, go where the locals go: Stonington Borough! The Borough has lots of great restaurants such as Dog Watch and Noah’s — you really can’t go wrong.
Casinos
Southeastern Connecticut is home to two of the largest casinos in the Western Hemisphere: Foxwoods Resort and Casino and Mohegan Sun. If you’re into gaming, this is a great way to spend a day or evening!
Niantic
Do you hate people and just want to be left alone with a good book? The Niantic Book Barn has you covered in multiple locations. Be sure to pop into nearby East Coast Taco for a delicious taquito!
Watch Hill
If Taylor Swift is one of your close personal friends, good news! She lives right over the border in Watch Hill, RI. You can pop in and say hi! While there check out all the other mansions… it’ll make you feel like you’re in an east coast version of Big Little Lies!
